Service usage limitations

What you do whilst using your goldensVPN account is your business, not ours. In truth, we've seen (and maybe done) more than a few unusual and perhaps even controversial things ourselves.Trust us, you won't shock us. We're part of the 'freaks and geeks' that make the world an interesting, vibrant, diverse place to live. As the (in)famous author William S. Burroughs came to believe. . .

"I am not one of those weak-spirited, sappy Americans who want to be liked by all the people around them. I don't care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do. The important question is: 'What are they in a position to do about it?' "

However, you need to know that there are two very specific instances in which case we'll cancel your goldensVPN account.

First - don't use our goldensVPN service to send spam. We all know what spam is (even if it's tough to define with methodological precision). And while there may be worse things in the world than spam, it's still not a good thing. So don't use your goldensVPN to stream spam - if you do, we'll terminate the account immediately.
Same goes for any manner of scam or fraud - other sites and services specialize in supporting those kinds of "businesses." We don't. We're only referring to egregious, clearly malicious activities so don't worry if you're basically legit.

Second - and far more seriously - don't even think of using your goldensVPN account to download, upload, or share child pornography. There are no exceptions to this rule. If an allegation is made that a goldensVPN customer is doing this, we will contact the customer immediately. If there is data to support the accusation, we will terminate the account and refer the case to the requisite authorities. There is no such thing as "healthy" child pornography. This is not a debate, it is reality. There is no judgment call on the situation, either. We cannot trace your usage of our service, and we do not maintain any logs of traffic. However, we can and will shut your account down if you do this on our network.

That's it. If a valid law-enforcement agency comes to us in Holland with a request to access your goldensVPN account in any way, we'll fight it using every available legal resource (unless it's child pornography, as per above).We will also immediately notify you of the investigation - if you choose, you may cancel your account and we will erase all record of it (unless specifically mandated to do otherwise by valid court order) (see our questions page for more on our position regarding the legal/illegal boundary). We do not maintain usage data. We only maintain billing data if you choose recurring billing (in this case, it is stored entirely off-network from our VPN/ server farm, topologically and physically); otherwise, the only data stored are username, password, and date of account expiration.
